Our allotment may not be dug ready for the new season.
The winter vegetables may still be in the ground.
But my gawd do we have some rhubarb,
So now my mind is racing with ideas for recipes,
for jams and chutneys,
crumbles and pies,
fools and cakes,
Though someone has ideas of their own!
Their thinking umbrellas and dens!
I'm thinking that there is going to be more than enough to go round!
Wow! Thats is some amazing rhubard, mine has about 3 leaves with very short stalks.
ReplyDeleteyummy, i was looking a recipe for making rhubarb muffins today!

We have the same 'problem' in fact I was writing a bog post about the rhubard yesterday (not posted yet). Last year I made up lots of crumble mix and froze it (without the crumble if you get my drift, that was added on cooking) and we also tried rhubarb bellinis which were rather nice. Please blog any exciting things you come up with as I have tons to use!
ReplyDeleteHello
ReplyDeleteI am new here.
My father used to say "rhubarb for Easter, gooseberries for Whitsun". Usually we have more than we can use, but this year Easter is now many weeks behind us and we haven't yet used any. A few years ago I made some drinkable rhubarb and ginger wine, a warming winter tipple.

Thanks for the ideas, rhubarb muffins sound nice as do bellinis, is that a simple recipe?
ReplyDeleteAs for Rhubarb and ginger wine, now I'm definitely going to see if I can find a recipe for that!!
I'll let you know how I get on!
I LOVE rhubarb - my favourite way is lightly stewed with a little elderflower cordial and then eaten with some cream and crushed digestive biscuits....and the kids love it too. Juliex
ReplyDeleteStewed rhubarb with a meringue topping is a pleasant change from crumble. Joan.
